Hello Prof Paul Belleflamme,
Thank you so much for these great series on Economics of Competition on digital platforms.
The series were particularly insightful for me:
(1). I am have been working with online platforms but, have had unlcear situtations to explain why sellers & buyers (Users and buyers) chose us and not our competitors, and why other users chose only our competitors.
(2). The concepts of mutihoming and singlehoming in digital platforms has been so clear now.
(3) The network effects concept and why some platforms become “winner takes it all” in the space of a certain service, even if their products are not so much differentiated. A case in point is the – ride hailing apps in Uganda (motorcycle taxi ) in esp, Central business district, Kampala.
I would however, like to learn more on concepts :
– Incentives and Market Design
– Incentives and Platform Selection
-Network effects, Big Data and Incentives;
and how all these come at play in digital platforms or markets.
Finally,
I have great interest in Market design – online algorithmic markets and economics of digital platforms, competition economics, and microeconomics. I would to inquire,
– What resources can you point me to to read and learn more on these online markets and,
– What Graduate can one apply for a doctoral degree in such branches of economics – market design, economics of competition, applied econometrics, advanced microeconomics – or more generally industrial system engineering and econometrics applications to designing experiments, evaluating experiments and programs in digital markets or platforms.
I once again thank you so much, and look forward to hearing from you, Prof!
