Very interesting points. As a theme park enthusiast myself, I’d also like to add another point about the strategy of these big groups : the Universal group & The Walt Disney Company also have theme parks all accross the world (Universal : Hollywood, Orlando, Japan & Singapore. There are projects for Dubai & Beijing as well. Disney : Anaheim, Orlando, Paris, Tokyo, Hong Kong and soon, Shanghai).
A very important word in their strategy is synergy; i.e. : synergy accross their activities. For example, for Disney : right after announcing the new Star Wars movie as well as Toy Story 4, they announced that they would build new rides or even lands accross their parks, that would open at the same time as the movies releases.
• Disneyland California (Anaheim) & Walt Disney World (Orlando, FL) will thus see new lands (Star Wars Land) open in their parks just as the Star Wars 7 movie will be released.
• For Toy Story 4, Disneyland Paris & Walt Disney World will open new rides.
The releases will then help each other. They can even group their ads to complement each other. This will of course be very benefitial for their marketing campaigns, as they can advertise for one product and improve the sales for both. Two birds with one stone.
[Unrelated, but interesting as well : there is a very fierce competition between Walt Disney World and the Universal Resort (both located in Orlando, FL). But while they are very explicitly competitors, they now attract tourists that visit both resorts and prepare trips to visit theme parks exclusively in Florida. They thus complement each other while competing.]

(this comment is absolutely unrelated to the innovation class. I was just very curious about the subject as a cinema lover & theme park fan)
